A closer look
The gourd shape gives your fingers a resting point below the broad rim. Deep cobalt blue fades into a pale lower body.
This glazed ceramic piece is a zhurenbei: a cup for the host. It holds an individual serving, rather than brewing the leaves.
After the last pour
Use it beside the pot or gaiwan for your share of each infusion. The light interior makes the tea's colour visible.
Rinse soon after use and dry thoroughly before storing.
