Leaf and craft
The Jin Xuan base grows in Fujian at around 1,100 metres and is harvested in mid-May. Leafhopper interaction contributes to the honeyed character of this Oriental Beauty-style oolong.
After 60–80% oxidation, fixation, rolling and baking, the tea is scented with fresh jasmine from Hengxian, Guangxi. Repeated scenting and drying build the persistent floral fragrance.
First brew
Use 7 g per 150 ml in a gaiwan at 95°C. Start at 10 seconds and extend subsequent infusions.
For cold brewing, use 3 g per 330 ml of mineral water and steep for around 40 minutes.
